Taming the monthly monster
When we have burnt ourselves out often our hormones are out of balance too. In my case they were WAY out of balance.
How can we tell this though?
Bloating, fatigue, irritability, hair loss, palpitations, mood swings, problems with blood sugar, trouble concentrating, infertility -- these are just a few symptoms of hormone imbalance.
Yes, that's right they are all symptoms of burnout too.
Let's get a little personal....
With me my hormones were way off the scale imbalanced. I had not had my period for four years (some may say yay!! However this was a sign my body was not happy). My testosterone was so low it could not be measured on the scale in the blood test!
So balancing hormones was a high priority for me as I am sure it will be for others who are experiencing burnout.
The following are some of the ways that I supported myself naturally using essential oils.
doTERRA Clary Calm
When looking to support hormones I recommend the doTERRA blend Clary Calm. ClaryCalm is a topical blend in a roller bottle containing Clary Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Fennel, Carrot Seed, Palmarosa, and Vitex.
When recovering from burnout I was using Clary Calm twice a day to support my body in balancing my hormones. I would use it over my lower abdomen as well as on my neck and wrists.
You can also make your own essential oil blend to support your hormones. I have posted a picture of my favourite below. I would use these blends in the diffuser as well as massaging them into my body diluted in a carrier oil as my all over body moisturiser.
Oils that are good to use in your bends to support hormones are:
- Clary Sage
- Lavender Peace (and Lavender)
This story has a fabulous ending. Within six weeks of doing this my body was starting to rebalance and my periods returned. Within a year I had supported my body for my hormone balance to return to normal.
